Un clip promotionnel pour MegaUpload mettant en scène de grosses stars américaines est apparu il y a quelques jours sur Youtube. Kenye West, Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg et une dizaine d’autres chantent en coeur la réclame pour “Le site le plus génial pour échanger ses fichiers”, et chacun d’y aller de son petit couplet, verbatims à l’appui. La réalisation du clip, elle, compile tous les ingrédients d’une bonne hypnose commerciale de masse, des animations épileptiques à la Pokémon au bataillon d’artistes internationaux vantant le service qu’ils adorent. Et pour ceux qui n’auraient pas encore compris, du matraquage de marque : le mot “MegaUpload” y est répétée 50 fois environ. A côté de ce spot, M6 Boutique ressemble à du cinéma d’auteur.
Il y a quelques jours donc, Univeral et MegaUpload se sont pris la tête au sujet de ce clip et des artistes présentés, qui ont tous, de fait, signés des accords avec la plateforme. Le clash intervient en plein débat sur le projet américain de loi antipiratage baptisé SOPA. L’enjeux : l’adoption par le Congrès américian d’un texte qui autoriserait notamment le blocage de sites étrangers hébergeant des contenus illégaux. Finalement dans tout ça, c’est Will.i.am (Universal) qui s’en sort le mieux en jouant sur les deux tableaux. L’écriture du titre pour MegaUpload a dû lui rapporter un joli paquet de fric.
